Workers' compensation training

Workers' compensation training is offered about a variety of subjects by Department of Labor and Industry staff members. Some classes are sponsored by the department and take place at its 443 Lafayette Road N., St. Paul, location (directions and map) or at another site chosen by the department.

The department also offers classes at community or vocational technical colleges. Customized classes can be arranged at a company's location, depending on the availability of DLI staff members, if at least 20 people will be attending each class.

  Workers' compensation training
Employees
  • There are no sessions of training for employees currently scheduled. Training can be arranged for groups of at least 20 employees or injured workers by contacting Jim Vogel at dli.wctraining@state.mn.us or (651) 284-5265.

Health care providers and staff
  • There are no sessions of training for health care providers and staff currently scheduled.
Insurers
  • 2012 Basic adjuster's training -- These classes at the Department of Labor and Industry in St. Paul, are designed for claims adjusters who have less than one year experience handling Minnesota workers' compensation claims.
  • Customized training for insurers
  • Downloadable insurer training materials -- developed for use in insurer training classes

Rehabilitation providers
  • 2012 orientation sessions -- An orientation session for qualified rehabilitation consultant (QRC) interns, a QRC intern supervisor from the intern's firm and newly registered rehabilitation vendors is Mon., Aug. 20, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • 2012 Rehabilitation provider update -- The 2012 Rehabilitation provider updates are Sept. 27 and Oct. 18, at the University of Minnesota -- Continuing Education and Conference Center (formerly Earle Brown Center) -- on the St. Paul campus. Notices will be mailed in August 2012, giving participants their choice of date to attend.
